Add a (pushpin) map to Elk Lake (British Columbia)

Many lakes are ambiguously named. One of simplest and most useful improvements you can make to a lake page is to add a map.

| pushpin_map = British Columbia

Add a missing infobox field

  • For common fields, it can be easiest to copy a field from a more complete lake page.
  • For more obscure fields, see the lake Infobox template.

Add an inline Infobox or text reference from a:

Scientific paper

  • freeform
The lake is big <ref name = "lakeperson2017">Lakeperson, T. 2017. A lake paper. Lake Journal</ref>.

Web page

  • minimum title and url

The lake is small <ref name="somewebsite">{{cite web|title=somewebsite|url=http://www.somewebsite.org}}</ref>.

Reusing a reference

The lake is a medium size <ref name = "somewebsite"/>.

Create a new page

Creating a new page often requires a workflow like:

  • Make a broken (red) link
  • Open the source of a an existing (simple) page like Flat River Reservoir
  • Copy the source from the existing page to the source of the new page (accessed via the broken link)
  • Change the appropriate fields
